A Thoughtful Spot

Welcome to my new thoughtful spot!  Since I have finished this corner, I often find myself curled up with a magazine, during quiet time, as that is the only quiet time around this house!  I am a sucker for magazines, I love to thumb through them and look at all the fun pictures. I admit I don't always read them , after all isn't a picture worth a thousand words?

I found these pillows at TJ Maxx, and I was so happy when I saw them, they were just what I had in mind.  Actually what I had in mind was to make them, but it kept getting put on the back burner, so I bit the bullet and bought them.

I think my $1 basket from a garage sale makes up for the pillow purchase though, don't you agree?  This basket is where I stock pile all my magazines, when it is full I will worry about throwing some out, but for now they all stay!

PS I do still have one corner shelf for sale it is sister to the one is the picture, if you are interested please see my Furniture For Sale Tab at the top of the page!

My Wreath is BACK!!!

I have this random space in between 2 windows and above my couch.  I have had so many different things up there but nothing seemed to fill the space until TODAY!!

I was so excited to pull my wreath out of storage and this door had been shoved back in a corner in my garage, what was I thinking right?

I am so glad these fun finds/creations have found a home.  My husband teases me about getting attached to things way too easily.  I am always happy when they find a home and I don't have to give them a boot.  Don't worry though, I am not a hoarder YET.

My First Hutch!

I am happy to introduce my new hutch to you!
My mom and I were out flea market shopping when she spotted this beautiful thing.  This hutch was a bit more than I usually spend on a piece of furniture, thank heavens my mom was with me to talk me into it, I would be so mad at myself if I had made it home without this beauty.

Before:

After:

OH I AM IN LOVE!!!!
I have always wanted a hutch with glass shelves and a light.  I drool over them on Pinterest and now I have my own!

The details on this hutch are beautiful and in the end won me over.  I knew with a new paint job and some glazing these details would be the focal point of a beautiful piece.

I replaced the back panel with bead board and I painted it with Annie Sloan's Duck Egg Chalk Paint, which made the perfect backdrop for my white dishes.

I couldn't be more happy with how this hutch turned out.

A little update on the Basement!

Here is the BEFORE :

See that hole in the ceiling we patched?  That hole was the cause of my bead board ceiling.  To try and match textures on a ceiling is a hard task to do, so I used it as a bargaining tool to get my bead board ceiling.  In my husbands words, "I love the bead board ceiling, but I don't think I would ever do it again."  I guess we can never move!

I am getting so excited as we get closer to completing the basement!  The painting is DONE!!  I painted the bead board ceiling and crown molding with the a white flat ceiling paint.  The walls are painted with Pebbles by Pratt and Lambert in a eggshell.  The bottom bead board I sprayed with Benjamin Moore's White Dove in a satin to help with clean up from little hands.
Now I need to find my light fixtures, I am dragging my feet as I don't know what I want.  Don't mind all my husbands wires for his surround sound, I just need to find a way to conceal them now aka a big piece of furniture to slide into the nook.  We are waiting on carpet and then the fun or decorating begins!

Happy Weekend Everyone

Paint PARTY!!!

Welcome back to the PAINT PARTY!!

Here is my paint project from this week.  I turned this old record player into a beautiful new buffet.
You can read the whole post here

I loved seeing all the fun projects and of course you have inspired me!

First up is this beautiful Buffet from Serendipity Redefined.
I just love this piece, I don't even have the words to describe it!

Look at this beautiful Vanity, I seriously SEARCH AND SEARCh for things like this and I have yet to be successful and for not liking to pick Create Inspire did an amazing job of finding and refinishing this piece!  I can see it in my Master Bedroom now!

I am so in love with drawers painted a different color, but I have not been daring enough to try it, so thank you for the inspiration Rain on a Tin Roof!  I love the Gray and White Contrast!

And last but not least this amazing ceiling!  I love of all the character and charm of this ceiling from Butterfly and Bungalow.  I dream of having a ceiling like this someday!

Got a Lonely Corner?!?

How many of you have that one weird corner in your house you just don't know what to do with?  Worry no more, I have the solution for you.

I just finished these beautiful corner shelves, I am in love with all the details on these.
I have stored them in my garage for months, hoping a random corner or 2 would show up needing a shelf.  But, now with the basement almost done I have had no such luck.
So they are available for the taking, in exchange for cash of course!

I have refinished these with White Dove by Benjamin White, I then distressed and glazed ONLY the outside molding, creating a beautiful frame to these shelves.
Everything is Waxed and ready for a new home!

Please see my Furniture for sale tab for all the info!

Old TV Console Turned Buffet!

Before:

I found this Beauty at a Local Flea Market.  I was so happy the TV was already missing.  To gut these things is a little {well a lot} more complicated then I like to admit.  They were built to last!

After:

Even though it takes FOREVER to convert these old TV Consoles they are one of my favorite transformations.  The work is all worth it when you get an end product like this!

I added shelves where the TV used to be for those knick knacks and the doors slide shut to conceal it all!

Where the Radio and Record Player used to be is bins for anything you can get in there.
