My Mom's Kitchen Renovation is Complete!

My Mom's kitchen is finally done, and I love the transformation!

Here is a look at the before.  Don't mind my cute mom, daughter and caramel apple dipping mess in the first one.  We forgot to take pictures before the granite and backsplash went in, but it will at least give you an idea of what is looked like.

Vintage Dresser Turned Bench

I really have a thing for old chest.  Every time I come across one I can seem to pass it up, no matter the condition it is in.  As you can see this chest had seen better days.  It was missing drawers and after I got the nasty fabric off the top I realized it was completely destroyed, it looked like someone had taken their anger out on it.  The frame of this dresser was still in great shape, and it is oak!  I couldn't just trash it....so....I decided to turn it into something else.....

A Bench!!

How cute is this turquoise bench!  And the drawer even functions!

Every bench needs a few fun pillows.  I love red and yellow with turquoise, it spices the piece up just a bit!

Vintage Twin Headboards Turned Bench

Does anyone else have spring fever?  I defiantly do, my daffodils are in bloom and finishing this bench has made it even worse!

My sister in law found 2 matching twin headboards. (sorry no before pictures)  Spindles and headboards seem to be a thing of the past, but spindles and benches....Yes, please!

to create this bench I used one of the headboards for the back and cut the other in half to create the  two sides.  I then built a frame out of 2x4s to hold everything together and create a seat.

French Hutch

People always ask me where I find my furniture and to be honest there is no perfect spot.  I watch the local classifieds, but most of the time they frustrate me, I feel like I am fighting or jumping through hoops to get a piece and with 3 young kids I don't always have time to do that.  I love to look at garage sales and thrift stores, but my favorite is when someone calls me with an awesome piece they are getting rid of like this one!

This piece was in pretty go shape when I got it home, one of my favorite things about this hutch is it isn't your average oversized hutch, it is cute and petite.

I like having fun with furniture and painting them different colors but with this piece it was just too elegant to do anything extravagant with.  I wanted to accent the details of this piece without over powering.
