Parade of Homes and my Table

You may have seen my chairs and table I posted a few weeks ago (Link here)

They made their debut last week in the St George Parade of Homes, and were a HIT!!

I love the upholstered chairs, one day when my kids are older they will be a must in my house.  I love how warm and inviting they make the table.  The wood spindles make these chairs so rich and add a little extra personality!  Not to mention I love how the oval table looks in the space.

Beautiful Gray Hutch!

I am sure we all do those projects we think, "yeah, I like it but I don't LOVE it."  Well this project is not one of those because I LOVE LOVE LOVE this hutch.  It is one of those pieces I put so much time into, maybe too much that is up for debate.  The end result is worth all the hours spent, and yes I mean HOURS!!

Off to the Parade of Homes

I have always loved the Parade of Homes,   I can remember going as a young girl with my mom.  I love to see how a house is pulled together and all the new fun things they are putting in!  And of course there are always those few houses that leave you speechless.

You can imagine how excited I was when a Designer of one of the St George Utah Parade of Home, Megan Frandsen, came to me looking for a few items!

I am in love with the end result of these chairs.  As a Granddaughter to a cabinet builder I don't believe everything should be painted as I have seen and know the skill and beauty behind a wood piece, however I LOVE LOVE these chairs painted!!  After they are glazed the wood pressed design is AMAZING!!

A little black....

You may have noticed I don't usually paint something black, only on request!!
I was reminded why I am not a huge fan of black on this piece!
Now I do love the outcome of black, it is just getting there that seems to be my problem.

I am way too much of a perfectionist when painting and with black it shows EVERYTHING.  So as you can imagine I sanded and repainted this piece several times to get it just right.  However I did learn a little trick, if you are using latex paint try waxing instead of a clear coat, it shows less and is a little more forgiving!!

But my customer was very happy with this piece and so all the hard work was worth it!

A Beautiful Bedroom Set

One of the greatest things about blogging and selling furniture is I meet some pretty great people.  The lady I did this set for I meet awhile back and have now refinished several things different pieces for her.  Through it all we have become friends and love to keep in contact with each other!  Who would have thought right?
This set is for her daughter and goes with a dresser I previously refinished (post here)

I love the details on this bed, the glaze really made them pop!

I am so glad she wanted the top of this nightstand stained, it turned out beautiful and goes perfect with the dresser!

And this fun little chair adds so much character!

I hope everyone is surviving this January, it has been cold here, but the snow makes is beautiful!

2013...was a GREAT year!!!

WOW, time flies WAY too fast!!  What a great year it has been.  From having my in home boutique to finding out we were expecting our third child and of course everything in between.  It has been a busy but successful year with many lesson learns and friends made!

Here is a little recap of our year and of course a few of my favorite posts!! I am happy to say our home is almost fully remodeled, there are still a few rooms that need attention but we are living DUST free which is a huge improvement from the last few years.

Here are a few of the rooms I completed this year!!

My daughters princess room (now I just need to figure out how to get her to keep it this clean)

Post here

I am so thankful to say our kitchen is done.  Of all the renovations the kitchen was the most stressful, doing dishes in the tub is something I don't miss!

Post here

I love our entry way.  It is one of my favorite areas in our home!  It was so important to me to tell my story to whoever came to our front door!

Post Here

I have learned so much this year when it comes to painting.  I seemed to learn most of it the hard way but either way we will be grateful for the lessons learned and the beautiful furniture that was a product of that!!  Here are a few of my favorites:

I did catch the Chevron Fever!!  I love the character it adds!!  (tutorial here)

This year I had lots of fun turning Old beds into benches!  This fun bench was made for a wedding, it was used as the guest book!

I have to say this year I found a love for refinishing hutches!
I love the neutral blue of this hutch!  It is so soft and calming.

This is my very first hutch, and I still love it.  I love the blue backdrop that makes my dishes pop!!  (post here)

Who doesn't love a little bit of Turquoise to brighten up a room?!  I love the stenciling and how much character it adds to an otherwise plain desk!  Post here

This desk was one of my favorites, I loved painting it and the outcome was stunning!  I couldn't have been happier with the end result, and my client loved it even more!!

I loved the color we painted this desk!  It is so bright and cheery and perfect for a little girls room!

This desk was one of my favorite all time pieces!  It is so stunning and I love the legs and character.  I was so sad when she sold :( Post here

I love this chest, and I am so glad my neighbor bought it so I can go and visit her every once in a while!!  I stenciled the front and I love the character it added!

This piece I loved so much I couldn't part with it, so it found a home in my family room and I am so glad it did, I love the wood with the dandelions,  and yes I painted them by hand!!  Post here

Now I can't forget my most popular post this year....

Thank you to everyone for your continued support!  Here is to 2013!!

See you next year!!

A little look at my Dollar Christmas Tree

Every year when I put up my tree it makes me smile a bit!  Most of my ornaments I bought at the Dollar Store or the day after Christmas!!  I do have to admit I have been adding to this tree for years now, and this year it is my favorite so far!!

These snowflakes I bought from the Dollar Tree, 10 for $1 and then I glittered them Tutorial here

I love birds!  The Birds are my new ornament this year!  I found them at Walmart for $.98 SCORE!!!

Here is a little peek at what the tree looks like!  My big Red Ornaments used to be orange, as to why they were so cheap, so I spray painted them and added glitter!!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season!!
