Our Pine Plank Flooring

I have had so many questions and comments about my flooring I will attempt to answer them all here!  

The previous owner of our home installed pine planks on the entire main floor, so, YES I have a lot of  it.  When we were looking at the house I was worried about the floors mainly because I didn't know anything about it, however I loved the distressed look and the charm it added to the home.  

Storage in the Window Seat

I have been on an organization kick these days.  My main goal has been to maximize the storage in our house so hopefully everything can find a place..

My husband has been wanting to tear apart the window seats to see if they were hallow for some time so last Saturday when he decided to check it out I jumped on board!

 I was so excited when we torn the top off to find they are hallow!  Look at this amazing storage space we now have!  My daughters room also had one and were able to do the same thing in there, instant toy box!  Oh, the things I can get in there now!

Yes, I even took pictures a long the way just for you so you can hallow out your window seat too. 

Grain Sack Side Table

Let me start out by saying I have the best friends in the world, they randomly give me things they are no longer using, they do have good taste don't ya thing?!  Look at this diamond in the rough!

Here is what she looked like when I got her! Not too shabby but with a bit of paint, she is absolutely beautiful!!

I decided to go with 2 different paint colors to really highlight the details on the sides, and I have been dying to do grain sack lines on a piece of furniture, this piece was the perfect fit!  

I refinished this to go in my bedroom, I just need to add a few finishing touches and it will be the perfect fit for our sitting area!

I am known for just buying things when I think they are cool even if I have no use for them.  This vintage bunt cake pan was no exception for that.  I even felt a bit of buyers remorse when I bought it, and needless to say it has sat in the closet for months adding a bit to the guilt, but today I am so glad I bought it!!  I spray painted the outside with an Oil Rubbed Bronze finish and I love IT on this cute table!!

Master Bedroom

I have had a few questions about my master bedroom...it isn't quite done...but here is a sneak peak!

I love the flooring in this room.  When we bought this home the carpet in this room was original to the house, so it had to go.  We wanted pine planks to continue to feel through out the house.  My wonderful Husband laid this floor (it was more work than we thought) I then stained it with Mini Waxes Early American stain, and waxed it for durability!  (post about flooring)

The color on the walls is Putty by Pratt and Lambert.  I wanted a darker color in this room so my furniture would really stand out!

I did refinished our bedroom set as well!  Surprise Surprise right??  The foot board and the head board used to have Rod Iron on it.  I didn't love the look of the rod iron with the new finish so we cut them off and filled the holes with wood doules.  My bedroom furniture was my first furniture project that got me HOOKED!!  It is actually a veneer, but it worked awesome.  I sanded it down lightly so the paint would have something to stick to, I then primed it with Kilz, I painted it with a creamy white (I forgot the color)  once everything was dry I sanded it and then glazed it.  For my glaze I used Burnt Umber Universal Tint from Sherwin Williams.  Fill a cup with water and add a little tint until you get the darkness desired.  I then painted it on and wiped it off IMMEDIATELY with baby wipes!  It sticks to the sanded areas and stays in the cracks!

But the Lamb Skin rug in my favorite.  My girls and dog, as well as myself all like to lay on it and play!  It is so so soft and fluffy!

Lamp Redo

I found this lamp at an Estate sale and even though it wasn't pretty to start with I LOVED THE LINES and DETAILS!!  The best part was it only cost me $5!!

With a little paint and a new lap shade it is the perfect accessory to complete my night stand!  And it has become quite a conversational piece....I call it my little old lady lamp gone modern!  

{MASTER BEDROOM}

After a week of renovation we moved in on saturday!  No, everything is not done...but done enough that we could move furniture in!  Below is the progress of our Master Bedroom!

I didn't get a Before Before picture .... so this is the best I got!

 We laid pine planks, stained them, and then waxed the floor to seal it.  They turned out so rich and colorful.  I love the rustic feel of them, we used finish nails but left them exposed to add to the style of the floor!

Here it is almost finished!  As you can see the crown molding is not up yet!  I can't hang crown molding, as I found out after much trial and error...so we have to wait for it to be put up!  Hopefully soon!  I love how all the molding just brings our room to life.

The doors casing just looks outstanding, thanks to my wonderful husband who stuck with it.  Casing can be a very trying task!

The Headers are AMAZING!!!!!!!

Our Dog {Pebbles} even got into the reno spirit and started painting things with her ears.
